Editing and creating partitions using GParted

  1. Move all your data from drives E, F, G ... to your drive D or burn them on CD/DVD, all your data on drives C and D will remain safe.
  2. Do this step using a linux live CD with GParted package installed. I've used Ubuntu 5.10 Live CD here.
  3. Set your BIOS to boot up your pc from CDROM, insert Ubuntu 5.10 Live CD and reboot your pc.
  4. In this step we will create a / and a swap partition for our Ubuntu installation and a /home partition to keep our data there.

  • We will keep our C and D drives and delete all other partitions to free some space for our Ubuntu installation.
